幻覚成分シロシビンがうつ病改善に効果的！？

研究学園のスタバより、、
覚せい剤やマジックマッシュルーム、
これらは使ってはいけないということは
誰でも分かりますよね。
しかし、これらの違法薬物にも含まれている
幻覚成分のシロシビンがうつ病の改善に効果がある可能性がある
という研究が発表されました。
研究を行ったのは
イギリスのサセックス大学のアニル・セス教授の研究チーム。
教授はマジックマッシュルームやLSD、ケタミンなどに含まれている
幻覚を引き起こす成分であるシロシビンに着目しました。
このシロシビンを研究した結果、
シロシビンが作用すると脳の神経シグナルの多様性が増加し、
意識レベルも上昇することが分かりました。
シロシビンのこのような作用を応用することで、
うつ病などの治療にも効果が期待できるということです。
もちろん幻覚作用のある成分ですし
中毒や依存といった問題もあるでしょう。
でもこれらの問題をクリアすることができれば、
覚せい剤とよばれる違法薬物が
うつ病治療につながるかもしれませんね。
薬は用法用量を誤れば毒にもなります。
逆にいうと、
毒であっても適切な使い方をすれば
薬にもなり得るということですね。
ちょっと怖い気もしますが、
違法薬物からであっても
うつ病の治療薬が開発されるのは歓迎したいところです。
